Scenes of Olde Boone…

King Street / Boone Trail, the main thoroughfare of Boone, North Carolina, in the 1920s.

This post is something of a first attempt at making available online some of the historic images of Boone and Watauga County from the collections of the Watauga County Public Library in Boone, North Carolina. These four images show some views of Boone in bygone times – indeed, many of the buildings themselves may be “bygone”. The view of downtown Boone’s King Street, however, reveals some semblance of familiarity.

These images are from the collection of the Historic Boone society, which collected and preserved these images, and has entrusted them into the keeping of Watauga County Public Library. Many thanks to all of the members of Historic Boone through the decades who have saved our past in these pictures.
